236 illegal immigrants, including
Bangladeshis, in a raid on two entertainment centers called Op Kutip on Tuesday night.
Immigration Deputy Director-General (Operations) Jafri Mbok Taha said in a statement on Wednesday (June 4) that the operation was carried out in Stulang Lout from 11.50pm on Tuesday to 2.15am based on information and intelligence gathered over three weeks. In the operation, a total of 473 people were searched, including 196 locals and 277 foreigners.
Those detained include 111
women and three men from Thailand, 43 women and 13 men from Vietnam, 23 men from Bangladesh and 14 men from India.
In addition, 10 men from Pakistan, seven men from Nepal, four men and one woman from China, four women from Laos, and three men from Indonesia have been detained.
All the detained foreigners have been charged with offences under Section 6(1)(c) of the Act for not having a valid pass or permit and Section 15(1)(c) of the same Act for overstaying in the country. They have been taken to the Immigration Detention Depot at the Setia Tropica Domestic Complex for further action.
