According to family and local sources, Jahanara was fasting on Wednesday. On that day, she went to her garden next to her house and saw some banana trees being cut down. She got into an argument with her neighbor and former UP member Miraj Uddin and his family members over the matter. At one point, Miraj Uddin and his family members beat Jahanara. After that, Jahanara ran to different places seeking justice for the beating. But she did not get justice anywhere. Since then, there has been no trace of her.

Locals found Jahanara's body hanging from a mango tree in a litchi garden near her house on Thursday morning. Police later arrived at the scene and recovered the body after receiving information.

The deceased woman's daughter-in-law, Setu Khatun, claimed, "My mother-in-law was beaten by Miraj and his family members. She has traveled to many places for justice. But she has not received justice anywhere. Since then, there has been no trace of her. We want justice for Miraj and his family members."

In this regard, Assistant Superintendent of Police Arjuma Akhter said, "The body has been recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy. The real cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report. A case of abetment to suicide will be filed at the police station in this incident."
