'Dreams will come true for me',

We are all familiar with the song 'Swapn Jabe Bari Amar

Path Dev Pari Tomar' sung by Milon Mahmud.

The song's popularity increases with the arrival of Eid. People share the song on their Facebook pages when they return to their loved ones.

However, not everyone is able to return home on Eid, fulfilling their dreams. Many spend Eid away from their families due to financial constraints and responsibilities.

On Thursday afternoon, when Jahangirnagar University (JU) was almost empty, I met security guard Shah Alam in front of the Student-Teacher Center (TSC). Every year, his family members are proud of him. The reason is very understandable - he cannot celebrate Eid with everyone on Eid.

Not only this Eid,

Shah Alam has not been able to celebrate any Eid with his family in the last 17 years. His children are proud of him.

There are many other security personnel who are engaged in duties like Shah Alam. One of them is Moslem Uddin. He also did not get a leave for this Eid.

Moslem Uddin said,

"I have never had an Eid leave in my 31 years of service. Is it possible for everyone to take a leave at the same time? We take turns in security duties at this university. I have told my family that if I get a leave next Eid, we will celebrate Eid together."
