of the Kaaba, Sheikh Dr. Saleh Ibn Abdullah Al Humaid.The original Hajj sermon was broadcast live along with its translation in 35 languages of the world, including Bengali. This time, the Hajj sermon was translated into Bengali by four Bangladeshi students studying in Saudi Arabia.
In 2018, the first translation of the Hajj sermon was broadcast in five international languages of the world. The following year, the Hajj sermon was translated into 10 languages, and in 2022, it was translated into 14 languages. In 2023 and 2024, it was expanded to 20 languages.
Sheikh Saleh Ibn Abdullah Al Humaid
was born in 1950 in Buraidah, Saudi Arabia. He graduated from Umm Al-Qura University in Mecca in 1975. He earned his master's and PhD degrees from the same university in 1976 and 1982, respectively. He later began teaching at the Faculty of Sharia at Umm Al-Qura University. He later served as the head of the university's Islamic Economics Department.
He was appointed Imam of the Grand Mosque in 1983 at the age of 33. He served as President of the Shura Council and the High Judicial Commission of Saudi Arabia. He is now a professor at Umm al-Qura University, a member of the Council of Senior Ulama, and an advisor to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia.
Today, 9th Zilhajj, is the day for pilgrims
to stay at Arafa in Saudi Arabia. One of the pillars or obligations of Hajj is 'Uquf Arafah' or staying at the plain of Arafa. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, 'Al-Hajju al-Arafah', meaning being present at the plain of Arafa, is Hajj.
