in a pond in Lakshmipur . They are cousins .

The accident occurred at the house of Kamar Uddin Patwari in Charshahi village of Charshahi union in Sadar upazila on Thursday ( June 5 ) afternoon .

The deceased Khadija is the daughter of Md . Shahjahan of the Kamar Uddin household and Tafsir is the son of Imran Hossain of the same household .

Patwari confirmed the deaths of the two children . He said , "A tragic fate has befallen our family before Eid . Eid is no longer a joy for us ."

Local sources said that a cow had been bought for the cow slaughter at home . Khadija and Tafsir were excited to see the cow tied up in the yard . Suddenly, they were not seen. After much searching, they could not be found .

At one point, their bodies floated

in the water . Unbeknownst to everyone, they fell into the pond and drowned . Later, they were rescued and taken to a hospital in Chandraganj, where the doctor declared them dead .

Chandraganj Police Station OC Muhammad Faizul Azim said , "No one informed us about the incident . We will investigate the incident ."
