Shanta's captaincy extended for another

Nazmul Hossain Shanto has been given the responsibility of leading

Tigers in all three formats. Initially,

he was given the leadership for one year. Later, it was extended until this year's Champions Trophy.


Shanta's captaincy term extendedThe Bangladesh team is going to the country to play a full series against Sri Lanka this month. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will play two Test matches at the beginning of the series. And the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 16-member squad for that Test on Wednesday (June 4). Nazmul Hossain Shanto has been given the responsibility of captaining the team. Mehedi Hasan Miraj is the vice-captain.

The BCB press release reads, "Top-order batter Nazmul Hossain Shanto will remain as Bangladesh's Test captain for another year, a role he took on in 2024. Mehedi Hasan Miraj will continue as vice-captain. The duo, who led the Test team in the previous season, will continue in charge."

Shanto had earlier said that he would not captain the T20Is. So he stepped down from that position. In his place, Liton Das was made the captain of the Bangladesh T20 team until the 2026 T20 World Cup.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)

has announced the names of the captains for Tests and ODIs. Shanto has been given the responsibility of captaincy for another year for Tests.

Bangladesh will play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is in Sri Lanka. The first Test will be played in Galle on June 17. The second Test match of the series will begin in Colombo on June 25.
