Own Correspondent, Gazipur: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested husband Somraj Ali alias Sujan (30) in connection with the strangulation of wife Rahela Akhtar (25) in Mulaid village of Sripur Upazila, Gazipur.

RAB Assistant Director (Ops and Media) on Wednesday (September 18) at noon. Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed this information in a press release.

The arrested Somraj Ali alias Sujan is the son of Mujibur Rahman of Kanuhari village in Galagao union of Tarkanda upazila of Mymensingh. On the other hand, the deceased Rahela Akhtar is the daughter of Rumali of Zakatkunni village of Purbadhala upazila of Netrakona district. He used to work in a local garment factory called Blue Plant from the house of Badal Mia in Mulaid village.

According to RAB, the elder brother of the deceased woman filed a murder case at the police station as the plaintiff. RAB started a shadow investigation after taking the murder case into consideration. Following this, a team of RAB-1 and RAB-6 raided Molladi Bazar area of ​​Muksudpur police station of Gopalganj district and arrested the victim's husband within 72 hours.

During the initial interrogation by RAB, Somraj Ali Sujan confessed to strangling his wife by wrapping a veil around her neck due to a family dispute.

Company Commander of RAB-1, Porabari Camp, Gazipur, Major Junnurain Bin Alam said that the arrested accused has been handed over to Sreepur Police Station in Gazipur for taking legal action.
