Jagannath University is the champion in NASA Space Apps Challenge

The results of the Bangladesh phase of the NASA Space Apps Challenge Hackathon competition, launched jointly at the American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) in the capital and online, were announced on Saturday night. As a result, Jagannath University won the honor of being champion at the Dhaka divisional level.

Team 'Quantum Voyagers' of Jagannath University compose their glorious success story. The team members are Nahid Raihan (Team Leader) of the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the academic year 2018-19, Jahangir Hossain and Farhan Masood Sohag of the academic year 2019-20, Muammar Tajwar Asfi and Yusuf Hasan Sifat of the academic year 2020-21.


In the last 10 years, Bangladesh has achieved the honor of becoming the world champion in this competition, three times in a row, and a total of four times. United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration - NASA is implementing this program with the aim of finding innovative solutions to solve various global problems of the world by bringing together talented young people from different fields such as technicians, scientists, designers, artists, educators, entrepreneurs from 185 countries of the world. As part of this, BASIS organized in 9 cities of Bangladesh (Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Comilla). NASA plans to engage 10 million students through social media in the Space Apps Challenge, as well as 200,000 students directly and through competitions.

Note that this time more than 3 thousand contestants from 9 cities of Bangladesh have participated. The two-day 2024 NASA Space Apps Challenge Hackathon was held at AIUB with the top 50 selected in the hybrid model out of a total of 500 projects and the remaining 450 projects online.
