Saiful Islam, Manikganj: As the main breeding season of hilsa, some officials of the Department of Agriculture have organized a hilsa party in violation of the law despite the 22-day ban to protect mother-hilsa.

Last Monday night, this Hilsa party was organized in Char area of Manikganj's Daulatpur.
Additional Director of Agriculture Extension Department (Dhaka Region) Ahsanul Bashar, Deputy Director of Manikganj District Agriculture Extension Department. Rabi'ah Noor Ahmed, Additional Deputy Director (Garden) Mohammad Mamun Yakub, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer. Imtiaz Alam, Daulatpur Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Rezaul Haque and others participated.

Agriculture Officer Md. Imtiaz Alam said that the Additional Director Sir came from Dhaka last Monday. There was a meeting at Daulatpur with DD Sir and Additional DD Sir. After the meeting, I went to a farmer's house for grazing at night. Went there and ate hilsa-khichuri. The price of hilsa is a little higher. So could not give more hilsa. 5-6 hilsa fishes were cut and cooked mixed with khichuri. It was very tasty to eat. I like it very much.
Hilsa-khichuri matter admitted the deputy director. Rabi'ah Noor Ahmed said, after the meeting in Daulatpur, we went to a farmer's house in Bachamara Char. The farmer entertained us with hilsa-khichuri.
Manikganj Deputy Commissioner Dr. Manwar Hossain Molla said, it is actually a matter of morality. It was not right to disobey their laws as government officials.
It should be noted that according to the government notification, the government has decided to stop the collection, transportation, marketing and storage of hilsa from October 13 to November 3 this year. This decision has been taken considering the breeding time based on science to protect mother hilsa. Violators are liable to imprisonment for a maximum of 2 years or a fine of Rs 5,000 or both.
