The controversial incident of match fixing happened in Mizoram state of the country.


India in match fixing

A total of three clubs, three officials and 24 players have been banned by the Mizoram Football Association (MFA) for match-fixing. This incident happened in Mizoram Premier League-2. Due to which the league's top scorer Felix Lalruatsang is on the banned list.
In a statement, the Mizoram Football Association said it had come to know about the corruption cases in the league with the help of local law enforcement agencies, saying, 'These activities involving a few miscreants have seriously violated our values. These incidents undermine the integrity of our game and dishonor the fans who support Mizoram football'.


'As a result of these findings we have imposed severe penalties on those involved. We are assured that clubs involved in this activity will face bans from any future competitions and the players and officials involved will be suspended. Besides, other disciplinary action as deemed fit by the MFA will be taken later.'


The three clubs that have been penalized by the state association are Sihfir Venglun FC, Ramhalun Atlético FC and FC Bethlehem. All three clubs received three-year bans. All three clubs are part of the top state league and have finished in the top four of the league.

 

One official from each of the three clubs has been banned for 5 years. In addition, two players from Chanmari FC and FC Bethelhem have been banned for life. The highest number of banned players is 14 players from Sihfir Venglun FC.
