One person was killed in a microbus-motorcycle collision in Taraganj of Rangpur. Another person was injured in this incident.

The accident took place on Thursday around 9:30 pm near Brothers Himagara on Rangpur-Dinajpur highway.

The deceased's name is Majedul Islam (44). He was a motorcycle rider. He is a rice trader by profession. Besides, another motorcycle rider Farooq was injured.

Taraganj Highway Police OC Khan Shariful Islam confirmed this.

According to the police and eyewitnesses, Majedul Islam, a rice trader of Damodarpur Kazipara village in Sayar Union of the upazila, was returning home by motorcycle on the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway after finishing his business in Taraganj at around 9 pm yesterday. On the way, at around 9:30 pm, when they reached Brothers Himagara, there was a head-on collision with a white microbus from Rangpur bound for Syedpur.

Rice trader Majedul Islam died on the spot in the clash. At that time, the rider behind the motorcycle, Farooq of Palashbari village of Badarganj, was seriously injured. Locals rescued him and sent him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. However, the driver ran away leaving the accident-stricken microbus.

OC Khan Shariful Islam said, motorcycle driver businessman Majedul died and another rider Farooq was injured in a motorcycle-microbus head-on collision near Taraganj Brothers Ice Cream on Rangpur-Dinajpur highway. The body has been handed over to the family. The mangled cars are being recovered.
