Chhatra Dal leader Shahriar Alam Samyar,

has joined the National Citizens Party (NCP). He was made a member of the NCP Dhaka Metropolitan North Coordination Committee formed on Sunday (June 1).

Amirul Islam Sagar was the Liberation War and Research Secretary in the Central Committee of Chhatra Dal. In August 2017, he was expelled for paying tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Facebook. However, on April 17, 2019, Chhatra Dal withdrew his expulsion order and reinstated Sagar in the organization.


In this regard, Amirul Islam Sagar told the media, 'I have not been involved in anything since leaving student politics in 2019. I believe in the nationalist politics of Ziaur Rahman's ideology. My father was also a founding leader of Chhatra Dal. I joined the NCP as an attempt to go beyond the traditional lines and do nationalist politics.'
