A four-judge appeal bench led by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed announced the verdict on Sunday (June 1) morning. The country's highest court gave the verdict, overturning the High Court's verdict in this regard.

Meanwhile, after the verdict, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman urged leaders and activists on social media Facebook not to celebrate or hold processions.

In a Facebook post, he wrote,

"Once again, a call to dear colleagues - let's not be excited, not march, not chant slogans. Let's thank the Lord of Glory, declare His holiness, and offer Takbir in His name."

He further wrote, "May Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, continue to shower us with His mercy. Amen."

Earlier, on August 1, 2013,

the High Court ruled to cancel the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami and declare it illegal. Then, on December 7, 2018, the Election Commission (EC) issued a notification canceling the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami . Later, Jamaat-e-Islami appealed against the verdict in the High Court.
