This year, 1.25 million HSC and equivalent candidates

12 lakh 51 thousand 111 candidates will participate in this year's

HSC and equivalent examinations.

Of these, 6 lakh 18 thousand 15 are male and 6 lakh 33 thousand 96 are female. Last year, 13 lakh 32 thousand 993 candidates participated in this examination. Accordingly, this year the number of candidates has decreased by 81 thousand 882.

This year's (2025) Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will begin on June 26. The Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has issued new instructions to keep the relevant educational institutions open during these examinations.


On May 24, a circular signed by the board's chairman, Professor Dr. Khandokar Ehsanul Kabir, issued a set of urgent instructions to conduct the HSC examination in a fair, beautiful and cheating-free environment.


The instructions state that while

previously the relevant educational institutions were closed during the exams, this time classes will be closed only on the exam day. Regular classes will be allowed on other days.


The Education Board has informed that all the candidates (regular, irregular, quality improvement) of the HSC Examination 2025 to be held this year will participate in all subjects with full marks and full time as per the revised syllabus of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board, 2025. The examination will start at 10 am and 2 pm. The question paper packet kept in the trunk in the treasury along with the question paper details list must be verified correctly at least 3 (three) days before the start of the examination. The concerned Treasury Officer, Center Secretary and members of the Examination Management Committee must be present during the verification of the question paper packet.


'2 sets of question papers, creative (CQ) and multiple choice (MCQ) sets, should be packed separately in security envelopes according to the date of the examination. On the day of verification of the question paper packets, the date-based question paper packets should be arranged in the presence of the concerned persons, the security envelope should be gummed and wrapped properly with cartoon tape and the date of the examination, subject code and set code must be written on the security envelope. If any error is noticed in this regard, it will be considered as negligence of the officer-in-charge of the center. Under no circumstances can the trunk of question papers be kept outside the Upazila Sadar.


It says, 'On the exam days,

2 sets of security (creative CQ) and 1 set of multiple choice questions of that day should be received from the Treasury Officer from the Treasury. The question paper packet should be brought to the security center with utmost caution from the police station/treasury along with tag officer and police guard. The question set should be used as per the SMS received on the morning of the exam day and the question paper packet should be opened after receiving the SMS. The envelope of the unused set of question papers should be submitted to the board intact. The examinee must take the exam in the subject mentioned in the admit card and registration card. No one other than the officer in charge will be allowed to enter the center with a mobile phone/electronic device. Only the officer in charge can use a mobile phone that cannot take pictures.'
