Big changes coming to NTRCA

To work as a teacher in a private educational institution in

Bangladesh, candidates have to obtain a

'Teacher Registration Certificate'. This registration exam is conducted by the Non-Governmental Teachers Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) . Recently, the authority has indicated a major change in the structure of the teacher registration exam. The new policy may come into effect from the academic year 2025-26, which is expected to make the teacher recruitment process faster and more efficient.

Changes in teacher registration exam process: What's new?
According to the new draft, the NTRCA is going to make some important changes in the examination system. Till now, teacher registration was completed through written and oral examinations. However, the proposed policy is trying to shorten and modernize the examination format.

Table of Contents

First, NTRCA has recommended that candidates be selected through a screening test, which is being called a selection test . The board meeting will decide whether this selection process will be MCQ-based or with a written test. It is being considered to complete the process in one step, much like the current university admission test.

Discussions with officials of the Ministry of Education revealed that the written test will not be completely abolished because the written part verifies subject-based knowledge, which is very important in the teacher selection process. However, there is a plan to conduct the written and MCQ tests together in one step.

New rules for calculating age and other decisions in the new policy
It was proposed in the meeting that the age of the candidate will be calculated from the date of publication of the registration notice. Earlier, age was calculated on a specific day of the year. This prevented many candidates from applying. As a result of this new rule, many will get the opportunity to become teachers.

Another important decision

is that the age limit for the recruitment of private teachers is being completely abolished. This will allow candidates of different ages to participate in the competition equally.

These changes will take some time to come, as the opinions of the Ministry of Public Administration and Law will have to be taken before they can be implemented. The revised policy will come into effect only after final approval from the Legislative Division of the Ministry of Law.
