What analysts said about Hasina's

Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India after a mass student uprising

has been formally charged with

crimes against humanity. Prosecutors allege that she ordered attacks on protesters during last year's protests.

After the Awami League's departure in the mass uprising, Bangladesh's interim chief adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has promised to bring Hasina and other key defendants in her party to justice.

Presented by Mohammad Zamjoom, Al Jazeera's Inside Story program featured guests including Bangladesh expert and independent South Asia researcher Abbas Faiz, O.P. Jindal Global University professor Sriradha Dutta, and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Central Executive Committee International Affairs Co-Editor and former MP Rumeen Farhana.

Researcher Abbas Faiz said that the International Crimes Tribunal in Bangladesh has indicted Sheikh Hasina for crimes against humanity. And in July last year, she launched a harsh crackdown on protesters against Hasina.

According to the United Nations, about 1,400 people were killed during that time. All the injustices and torture that took place during Sheikh Hasina's rule should be included in the trial. At the same time, all the criminals, including Hasina, should be given a strict trial. But everything should be done in accordance with international law.

Shri Radha said that the possibility of India extraditing Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh is low. Although there is an extradition treaty between the two countries, India may still take a decision considering the political realities. In India's view, they may refrain from extraditing her on the grounds that there is no impartial trial taking place in Bangladesh and the situation is biased.

Rumin said, the trial process is

still in its early stages. In Bangladesh, it usually takes many years to conclude a case. So it is difficult to make a final comment now. The big question now is whether Sheikh Hasina and her associates will be brought back to the country. Because most of them are staying in India.

According to analysts, the process of bringing Sheikh Hasina back to the country for trial is not just a political or diplomatic issue, but has also become an international legal and human rights issue.
