North convener Aminul Haque
said that the interim government has presented a budget that is like a dictatorial government taking on debt and repaying it.
He made these remarks while delivering a speech as the chief guest at a prayer meeting for the health and longevity of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and party acting chairman Tarique Rahman and the health of party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and at a food distribution ceremony to mark the 44th martyrdom anniversary of martyred President Ziaur Rahman at Pallabi Hatirjheel on Wednesday afternoon, organized by Muhammad Foundation in Uttara, Dhaka.
Aminul Haque said, "For the past 17 years, the autocratic government has paid off its debts by borrowing money, but this has not improved the quality of life of the people of Bangladesh. This interim government has failed to evaluate the movement and struggle of the people of Bangladesh for the past 17 years and provide a budget."
He said, "The pace of Bangladesh's
economy is very slow. Foreigners are not getting confidence to invest here. Investment has fallen to the lowest level in 10 years. One of the reasons for this is political instability. Political stability must be ensured in order to increase investment in the country."
Aminul Haque said, "Only the people's right to vote can create accountability. The people's government will be accountable to the people of Bangladesh."
Only that accountable government can fully reform Bangladesh, fully establish democracy in Bangladesh, and bring the fallen dictators and their accomplices to justice.
