Bus Terminal to ensure the

safe and smooth journey of people heading home on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

The operation was conducted at around 5:30 pm on Wednesday with the joint initiative of the Special Metropolitan Magistrate of DMP's Mirpur Division, Bangladesh Army, Traffic Darussalam and Darussalam Police Station.

According to sources from Mirpur

Division of DMP, this special operation was conducted to verify the truth of the allegations of charging extra fare from passengers and to ensure discipline in the transport sector. As the allegations of charging extra fare from passengers were found to be true during the operation, 'Ahad Transport' and 'Asad Transport' were fined Tk 10,000 each. The extra fare collected from passengers was paid through the concerned transport.

The coordinated efforts of the traffic police,

army and police station in this campaign have garnered widespread appreciation among passengers. Passengers have applauded the initiative.

Sources in Mirpur division further said that lakhs of people travel from Dhaka to their villages during Eid. To ensure that their journey is smooth, safe and hassle-free, the DMP will continue its drive to prevent irregularities such as charging extra fares.
