Answer: Manat is not permissible in Shariah. Shariah encourages Nafal charity. Not to the oath.

Rasulullah (s.a.w.) said - Be hasty in charity. Because danger cannot pass him. (Baihaki-7374).

On the authority of Abdullah Ibn Umar (RA), he narrated - The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade us to take an oath one day. And said, vows cannot return anything. But the wealth of a miser is extracted through vows. (Muslim Sharif, Hadith No. 4325).

However, there is no way to go back after taking a vow. Therefore, the vowed worship must be fulfilled.

Allah Ta'ala says, let them fulfill their vows - Surah Hajj-29

So the vow in question must be fulfilled. Manat and Aqeeqah shall not be performed on the same animal.

Doing aqeeqah is a distinct sunnah.

Hadith Sharif about Aqeeqah: Rasulullah (SAW) said, 'Aqeeqah is essential for every child.' (Abu Dawud: 2840; Musnad Ahmad: 20095).

Hazrat Ali Bin Abi Taleb (R.A.) said, 'Rasulullah (S.A.W.) gave Hassan's aqeeqah with a goat.' (Tirmidhi: 1602; Mustadrake Hakeem: 7589).

Narrated by Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A.), Rasulullah (S.A.W.) said, 'Jews performed aqeeqah for sons but did not perform aqeeqah for daughters. Make aqeeqah even if you give two goats for sons and one goat for daughters.' (Bayhaqi, Sunan Kubra: 19760; Musnad Bazair: 8857).

The best and sunnah day to do aqeeqah is the seventh day after childbirth. If you cannot do aqeeqah on the seventh day, you will do aqeeqah on the fourteenth day or on the twenty-first day. (Tirmidhi).

If that is not possible then aqeeqah can be done at any time later. But it is better to do it on the day of the week or the day before the child is born. There is no problem even if there is an exception for some reason.

If a person does not perform aqeeqah when his child is a child due to poverty, if he is able to after that child grows up, then even if he does his own aqeeqah, the Sunnah will be performed and his parents will also be rewarded for it.

Narrated by Hazrat Anas (R.A.), 'The Prophet (S.A.W.) performed his Aqeeqah himself after receiving Prophethood.' (Baihaki).
